Planning an event in 2026
Planning an event or wedding in 2026 is very different than planning one 5 years ago. Besides the obvious thing happening in the world, planning an event 5 years ago included wanting to show beautiful images on social media, but not like the pressure that is today. Between content creators, videographers, and photographers, the pressure that has become part of the norm has become overwhelming for some, creating a rush the other way, towards beauty in simplicity. It’s not the type of simplicity that means a neutral color scheme or only a few details, but rather smaller guest counts, unique elements rather than a pure focus on florals, and dreamy photos capturing all of the emotions. It seems to be a split of huge NYC events with Tik Tok trends and a flood of images and smaller events with a focus on design elements. There is no “right way” except the right way for you.
Planning an event in 2026 is also unique in that people tend to plan in less time than in past years, requesting dates 6 months to a year out for weddings and 1.5 - 2 years out for mitzvahs. While it’s still beneficial to plan with as much notice as possible in order to have the opportunity to book all of your top hire vendors and first choice of venue, you do have some additional wiggle room in 2026 because so many others are planning with a shorter timeline.
