Smiling Through Chaos Pre-Workout Oatmeal Breakfast

A healthy and nutritious start to the day is KEY to having great energy and productivity in a natural way. This meal is great "brain food" and a perfect meal to enjoy before an exercise class or workout. I ate this and then taught 2 classes, one a Mind Body class, which incorporates yoga and meditation, and the other a cardio and weights class, and the participants asked where I got all of my energy from! I reminded them that having a healthy breakfast is really important! As an aside, it feels extra good knowing I am also feeding the little baby inside of me tons of antioxidants and nutrients as well!

If you haven't tried the Qia gluten-free individual oatmeal packets, the ingredients are really wonderful. The individual packets allow for a quick and easy start to the busy workday and school mornings, but if you choose to measure out a bowl full, that's fine as well. Here's one link to the Nature's Path Qia oatmeal.

Ingredients: Rolled oats, dried coconut, buckwheat groats, inulin, chia seeds, hemp seeds, flavor - all organic!

  • Qia Creamy Coconut individual packets
  • Woodstock Crunchy Organic Almond Butter or another healthy almond butter option of your choice
  • Organic ground flaxseed
  • Cacao powder (extra magnesium, iron, and flavor!)
  • Half of a cut up banana and cut up organic large red grapes (I de-seeded these too.)
  • Udo’s Oil® DHA 3·6·9 Blend
  • Probiotic of your choice
  • Optional: You can also add cinnamon if you'd like.

Follow the oatmeal instructions as directed on the box. I just added boiling water, stirred, and let sit for a few minutes. Then I added a spoonful of the almond butter, cut up the fruit and added those antioxidants into this puppy, and then drizzled the healthy oil blend on top. The ground flaxseed came next, followed by the cacao powder, and finally the probiotic powder (capsule just opened up and spread on top). Mix all together and you have yourself a delicious and nutritious breakfast meal! Enjoy! xo Amanda
